Thanksgiving Round Two

On Thursday, I celebrated Thanksgiving on the town with my countrymen and some atypical Thanksgiving Day food. And then this past Saturday I kept the holiday chugging along and hosted a dinner party. I had a few friends over and my host parents whipped up some delicious, home cooking that truly brought the Thanksgiving spirit to life.

Oh, how cozy!
The evening's menu started off with a refreshing apple cider. Before the main course, there was a pumpkin soup with a wonderful mixture of spices and other goodness. The main dish was this awesome beef tenderloin that was roasted in this salt crust dealio. Flavor to the max. Sir Tenderloin was accompanied by your classic green beans, cheesy potatoes, and warm cranberry chutney. Might I just say, Ocean Spray is pretty tasty, but homemade chutney tap dances all over Ocean Spray's little tin can.

Hey look at me trying to be sous chef!

Then, to round off the meal, we enjoyed an apple crumble with a bit of ice cream to melt on top. Yum yum yum! Nothing like a home cooked Thanksgiving meal with some Bruce Springsteen playing in the background to make you feel like you're in good ol' Oregon again. A major shoutout to my host family for putting on an A+ dinner.

Dinner party classic-- Who Am I?
And of course, as anyone's who been to a party or game night of mine knows, there were definitely party games. It was interesting playing Who Am I? with a mixture of people with different language backgrounds, but entertaining nonetheless. Cards Against Humanity is also a classic, and was veryyy interesting trying to explain the cards and whole basis of the game to my German buddies. All in all, my Thanksgiving cravings have been thoroughly fulfilled and the holiday season can hoppity-hop-hop all the way through December.
