Goodbye Bronies, Hello Real Life

Project Week (aka Brony Immersion Week) is over at Victoriaschule, and on Monday the real grind begins. My core classes include English, History, and Biology. Since there aren't as many school clubs as there were at South, I'm on the search for groups in the Aachen area to join.
Welcome to the student parking lot!
First off, I've looked into volunteering at a local news station. Unfortunately, the TV station here only has spots for students who are required to do an internship for school hours and the university radio station wants only university-people. *sigh* It's still early, though, and I'm still looking!

As for band, the local Big Band has a gig this weekend, which should be fun. Unlike South, Viktoriaschule doesn't have Marching Band (I mean, they don't have a football team either, so that makes sense), Wind Ensemble, or Basketball Band (or a basketball team for that matter). They do have a Big Band, which I'll check out this week, as well as an orchestra starting in the winter.

American football may not be played at school, but it does have its own corner in the newspaper!
There are lots of volunteer opportunities in the Aachen area. Something pretty awesome I discovered is that you get paid for giving blood. I would've donated anyway, but I'm not complaining! I'm also interested in volunteering with older people since the hardest demographic for me to understand in German are those 70 and older. It'd be a win-win situation-- I can practice my German while helping out some locals.

And finally, soccer. Despite the fact that soccer is ubiquitous here, it's a bit hard to find a women's team to join. There's one in a neighboring town that I'm pretty sure will work out. Still, it'll sure be hard to beat Saxon soccer-- Ali Walker, Hannah Frank, Adriano, and company, you guys are pretty irreplaceable. #winning

30 days in Germany and still going strong!
