German-American Halfway Home

At the moment I'm about to start my first full week working as a counselor at Waldsee, a language immersion camp out in the Minnesotan woods. It's been interesting learning how best to teach a language, figuring out how to be a good counselor in this kind of environment and getting to know the other counselors who hail from all over the US, Germany and even Austria.

Bonding in the Mississippi with my counselor housemates.
Being in Minnesota right now means I'm in between Salem and Aachen. My mom joked I was in a sort of "halfway house" that'll let me ease into American life again. I guess she has a point, I mean, this past weekend was my first time touring a Walmart accompanied by Germans ogling at it all. Speaking German throughout the day is also definitely a plus.

Wo ist was in Waldsee?
While I'm here for the next six weeks or so I won't be blogging too much since camp is pretty demanding and my access to electronics is limited compared to mine at home. If you'd like to take a peek at Waldsee life, feel free to head over to the camp's Flickr page by clicking here or the blog by clicking here. As of now my session isn't online yet, but in the next few days it should be. I'm super excited for a great few weeks with some fun, talented, caring and unique people at good ol' Waldsee!
