This blog began when I got the opportunity to live in Aachen, Germany, which happens to be 5000 miles away from my home state of Oregon. Although I am back in the US, I'm continuing the blog to keep friends and family all over the world updated on my life in America.

CBYX Is Getting Sliced and Diced
I recently was notified that the US government is cutting half of its funding for the CBYX program. This won't affect me personally, but it will greatly alter the entire program, the biggest change being that less students will get to participate in the future. There is a petition currently open for signatures trying to bring back the lost funding. It's available at http://savecbyx.org.
My blog isn't really intended to push a political agenda, but this cause seemed particularly apropos. It'd be great to get as many signatures as possible and please feel free to share this with others. I can already say that if my life were one of those 20-installment Victorian serial novels, at least three volumes would already be dedicated to my time in Germany. CBYX has been great to me and I hope it survives far into the future!
